彼得前書3:8-11

Suffering for Doing Good
8Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10For,
“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
11He must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.

3:8 總而言之，你們都要同心，彼此體恤，相愛如弟兄，存慈憐謙卑的心。
3:9 不以惡報惡，以辱罵還辱罵，倒要祝福；因你們是為此蒙召，好叫你們承受福氣。
3:10 因為經上說：人若愛生命，願享美福，須要禁止舌頭不出惡言，嘴唇不說詭詐的話；
3:11 也要離惡行善，尋求和睦，一心追趕。

基督徒與其他人要有不同之表現，正如這裡所教訓：『不以惡報惡，以辱罵還辱罵，倒要祝福；因你們是為此蒙召，好叫你們承受福氣。』

雖然不容易做到，可是為了主的名和彼此和睦，我們必須如此行。雖有勉強，可是命令是不講道理的，遵守就有益處，一切藉口都不要說，正如軍人只說：『是的，長官！』

而上帝也應許：『人若愛生命，願享美福，須要禁止舌頭不出惡言，嘴唇不說詭詐的話；也要離惡行善，尋求和睦，一心追趕。』

可見，遵行上帝之命令是有福的，這不是交換式之命令而是主早已預備好之福份，只要我們遵行就可以達到平安之境。
